The "Local Changes" and "Stash" tabs have been separated from the Git window

Answered

Before 2024.2,the "Local Changes" and "Stash" tabs were in the Git window, where I can check local differences with single click, in the same time i can still use main window to edit other files.
After upgraded to 2024.2,these functions were missing. Now i have to double click files In LocalChanges to check differences and the differences showed in the main window.

Hi,

It helped, thanks!

In 2024.2, there was no preview button.

I had to upgrad to 2024.3.

But the local changes tab inside the git window is completely gone in 2024.3, where is it now?

But you can move it in any corner, (right click on icon and Move to)

if you want standard look back: Settings | Version Control | Commit → Use non-modal commit interface

Hey Dino Letic, I've just looked at the newest EAP, 2025.1. The option to use non-modal commit interface is gone. Is it gone for good? I hate having a separate commit window, I prefer to have my local changes under “git” tab.

Hi, it has been removed and will be a separate plugin, please see: https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/IJPL-177161/Modal-commit-interface-cannot-be-activated-in-IntelliJ-IDEA-2025.1-EAP4

Please check: https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/articles/SUPPORT-A-993/How-to-configure-non-modal-commit-to-behave-like-modal

Place the non-modal dialog in the old location (as a git tab)

Go to Settings | Advanced Settings → Disable Enable Commit tool window
