Issue with Open New Git Log Tab

Answered

Hi,

By default, I use Git Log with filters such as branch, user, date, etc. However, I’ve noticed an issue when opening a new Git Log tab. Every time I open a new tab, all the filters from the previous tab are automatically applied.

While this behavior might suit some users, it doesn’t make sense in cases where we want to check other branch commits with different filters. If the filters from the previous tab are carried over to the new tab, there’s little point in opening a new tab—I could just use the existing one instead.

I believe this behavior should be controllable by the user. Personally, I find it frustrating to have to manually remove all the previous filters and select new ones every time I open a new tab.

If there’s a setting that allows us to control this behavior, please let me know. If not, I request that this case be taken into consideration and that an option be provided to let users manage this functionality.

Thank you!

Hi,

Thank you for the feedback.

Sounds like a reasonable idea, please see: https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/IJPL-171818/Git-log-Reset-filters-when-opening-a-new-git-log-tab
