How to disable Search in Selection
Answered
When I press Ctrl+F, text seach within the current file is invoked. If I press Ctrl+F again it switches Search in Selection. I hit the shortcut accidentaly twice quite often leading me to this limited search without intention - it will fing notning if no text is selected, giving me fake negative seach results.
Is there a way to get rid of Search in Selection, please? I have tried to change/remove shortcut for this action but it did not help.

Please share a screen recording (Win+Shift+R) of this issue. My example:

I have recorded the issue (Upload id: 2025_01_28_6xiGrQ5kJ3La2TMbosZb28). I hit Ctrl+F at the beginning (you can see search for “must” string works) and then hit it again in the half of recording. The second keystroke has broken the search.
Here are screenshots to document the issue also for non-JetBrains readers.
Demo file:
First hit of Ctrl+F invoking the Seach feature:
But in case I press it twice (could be just holding Ctrl and double tapping F accidentally):
As you can see the second case did break my search for “must” string. Since it unfortunately happens that I sometimes hit F twice while invoking Search it leads to a false impression that search string like “must” is actually not present in the file. Like false negative.
Could you please help to disable this feature residing on the same keyboard shortcut as the normal Search OR change the Search in Selection in a way it search in a whole file in case nothing is selected?
Please re-record the screen recording so that I can see the Presentation Assistant ("View | Appearance | Presentation assistant") and know the names of triggered actions.
For some reason I am unable to respond with my former account. Hence using this new account.
Here is the new recording. Presentation Assistant is actually reporting a wrong keystroke there. I have hit Ctrl + F (not Ctrl + R), but the name of action (Replace) is correct. When I hit the same shortcut the second time (in time 00:06) Presentation Assistant shows nothing for some reason. But you can see the change in GUI.
1) According to your initial description, you press Ctrl+F for search. According to your last comment, you press Ctrl+F to replace. Please clarify which description is correct.
> Presentation Assistant is actually reporting a wrong keystroke there.
This is a known issue, Presentation Assistant shows the first shortcut registred for the action in the keymap, not actually pressed shortcut.
Probably, you accidentally assigned both Ctrl+F and Ctrl+R for search action.
2) Please send us your settings ("File | Manage settings | Export settings"), I will check your keymap for errors.
