Editor Tabs in Compare

I have managed to turn off showing the project path in the editor tabs for individual files, but when I use compare for two files, it shows the path in parentheses or paths if they are different.  It is consistent across multiple IDEs including CLion, PyCharm, and WebStorm.

How can I turn the paths off to just show the file names? They are different file names.
