Significant typing lag after upgrade to 2025.1.1 from 2025.1

Answered

I just upgraded to 2025.1.1 from 2025.1 and am seeing significant lag when typing (only in Pycharm).  My colleague is seeing exactly the same thing.  After every four or 5 words typed there's a multi-second delay.

Currently I've tried the following to see if I can isolate it;

- Disabled Github copilot

- Disabled Jetbrains AI Assistant

-Disabled all Local AI/ML tools (looked like they were doing code completion)

So far, none of the above has helped.

Counterintuitively, after a re-start I see no lag while the status-bar at the bottom is showing “updating indexes”, “updating skeletons”, “scanning installed packages” etc.  During this time there is no lag.  As soon as that finishes I start to see lag.

I downgraded back to 2025.1 and things are perfectly fine again.  No Lag.

I had to do this manually as the Toolbox app doesn't seem to see the 2025.1 version (only the 2025.1.1 version)

This has been a bit painful.

I have the same problem,  PyCharm cannot be used on Windows. I will try switching to a Linux machine. Things like these are really painful, please test releases better

Hi, this is due to PY-80823, unfortunately. Please upvote and watch it to be notified about any progress. Check out this article you are not familiar with YouTrack.

You can downgrade to 2025.1 until the issue is resolved.

Apologies for the Inconvenience.
