Is it possible to configure a role per database? I currently have two databases that each have their own role..

Currently, there is no specific option available for this. You can create two data sources, assigning different roles to each in order to use separate data sources with distinct roles for different databases:
From the existing feature requests, I found a similar DBE-10487/Role-switcher-in-the-console. But you can submit a new one more suitable for your task here: https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/newIssue?project=DBE.
