Remove "Drag here to attach as root directory" section of left bar

Answered

This is a heinous waste of screen real estate. How do you hide it? No context actions (alt+click does nothing). The kebob menu has no option to hide. Neither do kebob → Appearance,  kebob → Appearance → Customize Tree Views…, kebob → View Mode …

Also need to edit documentation here, including the video which does not show, nor talk about this new drag area:

Hi Seans,

We will update the documentation to add a description.

It’s not possible to remove it completely. This section only appears when dragging files or folders. In which cases does it take up a noticeable part of the screen and interfere with your work?

I think this issue is closed. The area was always appearing after the upgrade. But other syntax highlighting an error detection was happening (LOTS of unresolved references). I rebooted my machine and all the issues went away. Now this box does not appear always, but like you said, it now only appears during drag/drop.

Thanks for the response.
