Splitting the terminal removes all tabs on IDE restart

Thank you for your report. I was able to recreate losing the split on re-open, however, not the tabs closing/losing their names. Are there any non-default Terminal settings or special session configurations that you are using? and is it consistently happening in all projects or only this one?
It's consistent. The project I used in the screenshots is a special “clean” one for reproducing PhpStorm bugs. Currently, it contains a single file and no customization that I'm aware of.

I was able to recreate the issue using the Classic terminal engine myself, and I've created a bug report here: https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/IJPL-230477/Terminal-sessions-do-not-persist-with-the-classic-terminal. Please follow it for updates. As a workaround, you can switch to the Reworked 2025 terminal engine by selecting it in Settings | Tools | Terminal, the same in the screenshot you shared.
