2018.1.4 upgrade delayed processing and mouse issue

I recently upgraded to the new version (Community, not Ultimate) and I'm seeing some really annoying issues:

1. code files seem to take time to "process", as in the highlighting and inspections/fixes can take 30+ seconds to fill in.

2. sometimes highlighting and inspections (usually inspections) just won't update. Making a code change will leave old inspections behind. Selecting, cutting and pasting the entire file back will fix it.

3. the mouse cursor will disappear, and I think keyboard focus will be lost in some circumstances, particularly when (refactor) renaming symbols.

This is on debian linux. amd64.
