Webstorm constantly pegging CPU

I'm running WebStorm 2017.3 (build WS-173.3727.108) on MacOS 10.13.2.

Quite often WebStorm will become unresponsive, my Macbook's cooling fan will start up, and the CPU will peg at about 600%. This will last around 1 minute then things will go back to normal. Sometimes it happens every few minutes and it makes getting anything done really difficult. I don't know what WebStorm is doing (maybe it's indexing things, maybe not).

I have include a link to a CPU profile taken through the "Start CPU Usage Profile" menu option. Please let me know what else I can do. This is becoming a frustrating issue for me.

Please can you check if disabling 'Unused global symbol' inspection (Preferences | Editor | Inspections, JavaScript/General) helps?

Thank you for the suggestion. So far this appears to be working but I'll keep monitoring it.
