No tabs ... so editor works with a single tab only (as if there is 1 max tab allowed)
In such mode Switcher (the built in functionality on Ctrl+Tab; just in case if you mean something else), since it's a single tab only, shows previously used tabs so you have some targets to switch to (so it's like "View | Recent Files")
If that's so .. then you basically wish to remove an item from the Recently Used Files history list. So yes - "Delete" will remove such entry from the Recent Files list.
