Incorrect Terminal Window focusing

I have a rather infuriating issue with Pycharm. I'd really love to buy the thing but really cannot until this issue is resolved. After any reasonable amount of time when I maximize the pycharm window, the window appears with the terminal window also floating. The terminal appears to have focus, and often does. I can hit the up key to get the last command line string I ran, but as soon as I type actual characters, the characters are being written to the actual pycharm code, and not the floating window.

Countless times I find myself unknowingly typing characters into the pycharm code window, mangling code, every time the terminal window loses focus for no reason I can figure out. Every update I say a little prayer that this issue might be resolved, surely I cannot be the only person to have this issue?
