Markdown or just editor controls Follow

HI and thanks, Markdown is great but why not include normal controls for editing like highlighting, bold etc, lists. I don't want to have to all things in Markdown that I would like to do. Also what about non-developers that use the task view? They would feel a great deal more comfortable using that as if they were in word or some other similar application. I have always been confused as to why that was not included, especially since the tech is old and can be used from any of a dozen sources. Even this comment window already has some of that functionality, the only thing it needs is highlighting
