IDEA takes a lof of time to open an existing project

Often times when I open a project (ant-based) that I already used with IDEA not so long ago (sometimes during the same day) it takes a long time to open the project. I see the "loading components for 'project name'" dialog for around 3-10 minutes.
Is this normal?
IDEA version is 2018.1.1
This doesn't seem to be OS-specific, it happens on multiple systems: macOS 10.13, Ubuntu 17.10, Windows 10

Do you use 3rd plugins? Please provide all IDE logs zipped: Help | Compress Logs and Show in ... action (to our upload server or some sharing service) after issue happens. Thank you.

I tracked down the plugin that slowed down the loading - it's called Database Navigator. I guess I need to contact its authors. Thanks for your help.
By the way when IDEA gets stuck and you press Cancel to stop it from loading the project it keeps loading anywyay, it looks like the button doesn't cancel anything. Is this something that plugin authors must implement in order to be able to cancel (i.e. also an issue with DB Navigator)?

Please report the issue to the plugin vendor at https://plugins.jetbrains.com/plugin/1800-database-navigator It would be very helpful if you include in the report several jstack thread dumps of IDE process taken at the moment issue happens. Thanks.
