Not resolving axios library which causes no code completion

Using Phpstorm 2018.1. If you install the axios npm package and require it into a file, none of its functions or members populate in the code completion popup. They also show as not resolved. Do the same thing in webstorm 2017.3 works however, and you get full code completion for axios.
