Modifying background color of the Intellij IDEA interface (not editor)

The strongly washed out background of the interface bothers my eyes after a while. I would like to darken it just a bit, and to remove the washed out blue hue from the navigation area to make it neutral. I've looked into various places, but I can't find a straightforward way to do it. Is there a way to do it?
