How am I supposed to use refactor/rename with the vim plugin enabled

Answered

Every time I use the refactor--> rename option on a function, it dumps me into some sort of contextual edit box in command mode, which is competely useless for editing something.  If it somehow gracefully decides to put me in edit mode, there is no way to then convince the refactor thingy to accept the change.

I must be missing something, because this essential feature is completely unusable with the vim plugin enabled.

I have version 2018.2.5.  I'd give a build number, but clicking ANYWHERE closes the about dialog box, so I can't move over to this browser window to copy it.  Paper is ridiculously too much work / error prone.

Thanks.

Hi @Ivaughn.

Please see https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/VIM-1143, feel free to comment or upvote. Meanwhile you can disable Tools | Vim emulator when you need to rename a function.

There is a "Copy to Clipboard" icon which appears as you hover the mouse cursor over the "About" window.
