Old Application Support and Cache directories

Answered

I've been using IntelliJ for many years and have upgraded it regularly. I noticed today that there are several old IntelliJ directories in ~/Library/Application Support totaling 1.9GB of disk space as well as ~/Library/Caches totaling 8.2GB of disk space. The only version of IntelliJ I still have installed is 2018.3. Do I still need any of these application support directories or cache directories?

No you do not need them. You only need one version of IDE settings/caches directories for each IDE version. Just makle sure the IDE is using the expected directories: Changing IDE default directories used for config, plugins, and caches storage.
