CPU utilization at 200%

I'm writing a hello world module in pycharm and just a simple interaction with terminal throws the CPU utilization to 200%. Is this behavior normal?

What do you mean "world module"?

A basic program that prints "Hello World!" in the terminal. The CPU load is 170%-160% just by typing a simple command in the terminal (which shouldn't cause any spikes in the CPU load as I use a couple other IDEs and don't experience this).

I understand you know, check in the task manager to see what proccess loads the cpu, if it is pycharm, i think you should contact support

Hi,

Do you have CPU spikes if you just open the terminal tab in PyCharm, or when you run the script?

Please check which process is causing the spike, as suggested by Eliyahu above, and post your system specs, for starters.

Hey Hitbuyi,
Unfortunately, it's only possible to understand why it's happening with specific information.
Please create an issue on YouTrack: https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issues/PY or report this problem directly with Help | Contact Support so we can investigate this problem and provide you with a possible solution.
In your report provide PyCharm logs, a project sample and a requirements file for your Python environment.
