I struggle with seeing yellow or red bars in the (Java) editor's right margin, clicking on them, but not getting the corresponding light bulb in the code (toward the left margin) so that I can either choose a fix or disable the inspection, etc. I always get a pop-up blurb saying why (at the right margin), but often no light bulb.

Am I doing something wrong?

I'm running IntelliJ IDEA Ultimate 2018.3.4 on Linux Mint (Ubuntu) 19, 32Gb memory, plenty of disk available.

Thanks!

Hello Russell,

Am I got you right that light bulb isn't shown at all even if you put caret on text with error/warning?

Yes, that's right. It seems to be worse with the last couple of upgrades. It's always been less than 100%, but usually, when the light bulbs fail to appear, I just keep clicking off of the error/warning, then back on it. Sometimes I even double-click the error/warning. Until now, I've just never complained. Maybe it's a peculiarity of Linux. I hope not. This is very useful functionality to me.

Thanks.

Russell,

Could you please report an issue on YouTrack attaching idea.log ("Help | Show Log in...") after restarting IDE and reproducing the issue: http://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issues/IDEA ?

I'll be able to do that in a couple of hours from now.
