Intellij 2019.1 EAP Requesting Activation

Answered

I have been using the EAP release of Intellij for the last couples months as it does not require a license. This morning when I started Intellij it had an IDE update so I installed it. When it was finished it gave me a screen asking for authentication or offering a 30day trial. I picked the 30 day trial for now but I need to know if there is any confirmation that I will still be able to use the EAP builds after that 30 days is up.

Hello Brendan,

EAP builds are also have limited usage time - usually the same 30 days. It will be possible to switch the the next EAP (2019.1.1) when it will be published.

Thanks Yaroslav,

Are the EAP updates expected to be released within the 30 day windows? Is there any guarantee/commitment that an EAP build will always be available or should I plan for periods without one?

Brendan,

Usually new EAp is available in 30 days, but we don't consider using only EAP as a stable workflow. So sometimes there might be gaps more that 30 days.
