WARNING !!! - 2019.1 German Keyboard Broken

Windows 10, update from PyCharm 2018.3.5 to PyCharm 2019.1

After the update installation certain key combinations - AltGR + @ { [ ] } \ ~ € (any of these special keys!) - were broken. I was unable to enter one of these combinations in the Editor or in one of the input fields. So editing code was impossible.

I uninstalled everything by JetBrains and then did a clean install of 2019.1, but to no avail.

After uninstalling 2019.1, I reinstalled the older 2018.3.5 version - everything worked perfectly again.

So be WARNED to install 2019.1 just yet.

Hi,

This looks like a known issue covered in the following ticket: https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/PY-34816
Please try the following workaround: https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/PY-34816#focus=streamItem-27-3366765.0-0

I'm sorry for the inconvenience. We are working on the proper fix and plan to include it one of the upcoming updates.
Let me know if the workaround didn't work for you.

@Andrey

Thanks for your response! I prefer to stay with 2018.3.5 until this issue is resolved. What I don't understand, why such an obviuos issue hasn't been discovered during testing and quality contriol,,,
