Settings repository on GitLab HTTPS saying "authentication not supported"

I am trying to overwrite my local settings using my existing GitLab settings repository. When I enter the HTTPS path to the .git file, IntelliJ shows the modal that a connection is trying to be made. When the modal disappears the URL border is red, and the callout is saying "authentication not supported". How do I fix this issue? Attached is a screenshot of the error.
