How Do We Get The Old Compare Branches Back?
Answered
Since this new feature has arrived https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/IDEA-207634 the compare with branches has been broken.
I am on develop and click master Compare with Current and it shows 0 commits even though lots have work has been done.
When I am comparing branches I don't want a tiny tool window to look at the diff, I want a large pop-up so I can clearly see everything.
Is there a switch to use the old view instead?

There is no option to switch back, sorry.
See https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/IDEA-216382 and https://intellij-support.jetbrains.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360004371379-2019-2-GIT-branch-Compare-With-Current-changed
This is so irritatitng.
I remember now why I have been running 2018.3.1 for the last 2 years.
I was forced to upgrade by the company for security reasons and now I have a useless diff dialog again.
Why don't you just make the option to use the modal version like in the git commit dialog?
