Anyone else having slowness issues in the latest PHPStorm 2019.2 update?
Ever since the update last week, I'm getting slowdown, lag, random freezes... it's super-annoying and slowing down my progress.
I can't tell what changed that could cause it, but it seems to have something to do with code inspect/validate or whatever that is.
I haven't changed settings since just before or after the update, yet the slowdown started right after the update, even before I started changing code. It seemed to clear up for a while then comes back randomly.

I have the same problem, it's really annoying and slows down my work. It started just after last update.
I invalidated caches and restarted, it just sporadically runs OK or laggy; when it's laggy, every three characters I type it lags half a second or more, same when moving the cursor over on lines I haven't moved the cursor over on. I don't see anything else moving or running on the screen at the time. Everything other program is running fine.
What do we do? Can we downgrade without losing settings? Or what fixes should we try?
It's now consistently laggy.
I'm seriously thinking of cancelling our subscription and am investigating other programs.
It seems for me that when all scanning and indexing processes are finished (which took several days), all works good now without any delays or lags.
You can downgrade without losing settings unless you removed settings intentionally. Just install the previous version, it should be fine.
Apart from that, there can be tons of possible reasons for PhpStorm to be laggy, and it's impossible to troubleshoot that in a forum thread. Please create a support ticket attaching your logs bundle (Help | Compress Logs) after you experience lagging again.
It's now lagging on a project I hardly ever touch with a single .txt file open... I was just using it for note-taking at the moment, and I can't even do that. Every other text editor runs fast as usual, but they don't have as intuitive keyboard functionality as PHPStorm does on Mac. Seems I can't win right now.
It's not impossible to troubleshoot something on a thread if there's some good suggestions at first. Have you ever tried installing an older version over a newer one? How did that go?
I found a ticket the other day but now I don't know where it is. I also mentioned in the ticket that I get a warning about proprietary company info in the logs... so really do you think it's safe for me and the company I work for to ignore that warning?
