Intellij IDEA Ultimate 2019.2 java editor gets lagging when typing.

Answered

This is an annoying behavior. I tried increase memory heap to 2048MB and problem still occurs. I use only basic plugins (like version control, test tools, application servers, database tools, spring tools) thus that is not the problem. Then I noticed when I change workspace and open the same project in a clean workspace the lagging behavior disappears but for a days only and then returns back.

Im working with a project that uses spring boot, vaadin, maven.

Do you have an idea about whats happen ?

What can i do ?

Same/Similar here.

I have 2 kinds of this issues:

  1. I can view files, place cursor, make text selections, but no editing at all. Solution: restart IDE.
  2. Complete freeze: I can only see the current file, but no interaction at all with the IDE/ Usually I can recover functionality after triggering an action (eg.: pressing shift key multiple times, opens a pop up and this is enough).

We need a CPU snapshot to investigate, please see the link above and submit a ticket at https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issues/IDEA.

Running latest intellij with near 0 changes to stock configs, i manually edit configs for some key mappings and thats it...
IDE runs like some shitty eclipse editor,
i have no idea what you're busy doing guys, this sluggish slow glitchy shit is going on for year at least now,
no one cares about your new features, keep the product slick and stable

Downgrading to community edition + some other tools.
FYI community edition has none of this performance issues
Unless i see some decent change in stability i'm not going for another license.
Best of luck

@Vachagan,

Every performance issue is unique and may be specific to a certain user environment. In order to identify the problem in each separate case, we need to analyze a CPU snapshot recorded on user's system and IDE logs.

Try disabling all non-bundled plugins via File | Settings | Plugins and restarting the IDE. If it doesn't help, please submit the problem to our issue tracker and attach the aforementioned data to it to initiate investigation.
