Edit Configuration Dialog

Looks like you added this to Goland but I haven't a clue what each of the entries is looking for:

Run Kind? In my case it's a new project, one go file at a time -- what do I put there? Project?

Output Directory I create a file to write to, is that the unqualified file path?

Working directory It doesn't recognize my entry, but in any case what is a working directory?

Thanks

K

Hi,

This dialog is needed for non-trivial build configuration. Likely you don't need it and can run go programs and tests just via right-click menu on file/directory or using run-icon on the editor gutter. Also, see the documentation about running applications https://www.jetbrains.com/help/go/running-applications.html

> Run Kind? In my case it's a new project, one go file at a time -- what do I put there?

It's how you want to refer to build target: via directory path, package path or file path. For building a single file you can choose `File` run kind.

> Output Directory I create a file to write to, is that the unqualified file path?

This is where the output binary will be put. I have no idea what the file you're talking about.

> Working directory It doesn't recognize my entry, but in any case what is a working directory?

It's a directory where the process will be run in. It's a common term: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Working_directory
