License expired before 30 days trial

Answered

I have installed IntelliJ Idea for the first time on September 23. I have been using it for the 30 days trial period while waiting for my company to buy the license.

On the last week, due to a problem with my enviroment, I uninstalled IntelliJ Idea and reinstalled it again. After that, the license has just expired, and now I cannot use it anymore. The expiration date should be October 23.

What could be wrong?

What IDE version have you installed the 2nd time? Was it the same distribution from https://www.jetbrains.com/idea/download ? Or you installed it from https://confluence.jetbrains.com/display/IDEADEV/IDEA+2019.2+EAP may be?

In any case, would you please contact our team to prolong the evaluation period (please make sure to use the distribution from https://www.jetbrains.com/idea/download ).

Hi, Andrey. Thanks for your comments. I reinstalled the same version I had installed before. In fact I used the same setup file I downloaded from https://www.jetbrains.com/idea/download. The version is 2019.3.2.

Anyway... it seems I have solved the problem in a strange way. When I uninstalled the IDE, the folder IntelliJ IDEA 2019.2.3 was not erased and I renamed it to IntelliJ IDEA 2019.2.3_old so it was possible to reinstall the IDE in the same folder. Now I have just renamed the new folder to IntelliJ IDEA 2019.2.3_new... and renamed the _old folder to IntelliJ IDEA 2019.2.3.

After that, IntelliJ is working again and for some reason the new expiry date was postponed to November 14 - as though I was using it for the first time today.
