Cannot update IntelliJ or any other Jetbrain apps

I originally got this issue with AndroidStudio but I also noticed all of my other JetBrain apps are doing the same thing on my OSX (Catalina) 10.15.1

When I try to update any of them it says:

Connection Error - Connection failed (Connection reset). Please check network connection and try again.

On Android studio I get a slight difference in wording:

Connection Error - Connection failed (Remote host closed connection during handshake). Please check network connection and try again.

I can connect fine to the internet with other apps, I've checked for any proxies and other firewalls that could be blocking it and still I get this.

 

I even tried to re-install them but I get the same issue. Versions are:

AndroidStudio - 3.5.2

IntelliJ - 2019.2.1

 

Not sure what else to try.

I found the issue.  I had installed ExpressVPN and that apparently causes the blocking of multiple apps from accessing the internet including all of the Jetbrain ones.  Even if the VPN was off it still blocked it.  I removed it and now everything is updating again.  Leaving this for any future poor souls that are scratching their heads like I was.
