Split run window
Answered
This appears to be new run window behavior and I do not know how to revert to the normal view of one output window. It only applies to certain projects. I do not see the exception output on the right until I collapse the window icons on the left. The line wrap icons moved to the right hand side of the output window as well. I've tried many appearance and console features to no avail.

You can remove the needed type of configuration from "Configurations available in Services" field to display it in "Run" window as before.

Removing the available configurations did not change the window. I tried https://www.jetbrains.com/help/idea/viewing-modes.html# as well. The problem started from running a Dropwizard application and continues in other random projects. The problem does not persist when I switch over to the Community Edition.
Are you speaking about Gradle Run window tree view? The feature request to make this configurable exists in our bug tracker:

Yes. This is the exact issue. I'm not sure why the split window doesn't appear on every gradle project? I'm using the Ultimate 2019.3. Initially, the window was slid as far left as possible. When my programs were throwing exceptions, I could not see the stack trace output until I ran them on the command line. Then, I discovered the tree in the left window. I share the same thoughts with the original poster about being able to toggle the views.
