can we place a intellij developed plugin and license file in the plugin folder of intellij IDe ?

We are developing a custom plugin using intellij plugin development. Now we want to place it in plugins folder of intellij ide installation folder. Can we even place license folder at the same location. that is under plugins folder only? and not the license folder. Is it like compulsory to place it in license folder.. the license files? please help
