Missing "File watchers" in Settings->Tools

Hi! I have PhpStorm on both desktop and laptop. On both computers I've been using file watcher (for scss) for 2 years now. And now all of the sudden it is missing on the desktop (while on the laptop everything is fine). I've checked and there is plugin "file watchers" and it is not disabled.
So, file watchers is missing from Settings->Tools, and also it does not react when changing scss and saving it.
I don't know what to do.
Thank you in advance!

Hi there,

You can start by checking the idea.log file for any related messages (Help | Show log in XXX). If not sure -- share the file (do not copy-past whole text here).

Maybe your setup is somehow "broken". Try uninstalling IDE (just the program; keep settings) and installing it again.

I've restarted the PhpStorm and it appeared.
It now works as supposed to

I'm having the same issue in IntelliJ. I had to reinstall it on a new computer. FileWatcher is no longer found anywhere. My Logs say:

2020-06-06 12:15:10,622 [ 162444] INFO - pl.local.NativeFileWatcherImpl - Starting file watcher: C:\Program Files\JetBrains\IntelliJ IDEA 2020.1.2\bin\fsnotifier64.exe
2020-06-06 12:15:10,652 [ 162474] INFO - pl.local.NativeFileWatcherImpl - Native file watcher is operational.

2020-06-06 12:15:45,961 [ 197783] INFO - pl.local.NativeFileWatcherImpl - Watcher terminated with exit code 0

Not sure what this means but I looks like it terminates.

@Steve

That has nothing to do with File Watchers plugin. Those entries are about OS file system watching (watching for file modifications and alike).

OK. So you tell me why I can't get the file watcher to start up? I have two instances of Intellij running on two laptops now and both don't show it. Doesn't seem to matter what I do, it's just not there any more.

Try disabling and then re-enabling that plugin (restart IDE in between). Check the log: it may say if plugin is disabled or not.

Other than that: no clues without the log file. You better make a Support Ticket where you can share you log privately ("Submit a Request" button at the top of this page)
