PyCharm not starting, error message: Can't find dependent libraries

I cannot start PyCharm anymore, after not having used it for a couple of weeks. Running pycharm.bat from command line gives the following error message:

Picked up JAVA_TOOL_OPTIONS: -agentpath:"C:\WINDOWS\system32\Aternity\Java\JavaHookLoader.dll"="C:\ProgramData\Aternity\hooks"
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM warning: Option UseConcMarkSweepGC was deprecated in version 9.0 and will likely be removed in a future release.
Error occurred during initialization of VM
Could not find agent library C:\WINDOWS\system32\Aternity\Java\JavaHookLoader.dll in absolute path, with error: Can't find dependent libraries

I'm on Windows 10, running PyCharm Community Edition 2019.2.5. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi, you should probably check if you have JAVA_TOOL_OPTIONS environment variable and remove it.

Also check that you don't have agentpath specified in VM options: https://www.jetbrains.com/help/idea/2020.1/tuning-the-ide.html#

Clearing the JAVA_TOOL_OPTIONS environment variable worked great! Thanks so much :)
