[solved] No psalm and phpstan option in 2020.3

Answered

I'm using IntelliJ Ultimate 2020.3 with the PHP plugin, but as far as I can tell this should work the same as PHPStorm. (https://www.jetbrains.com/help/idea/using-psalm.html and https://www.jetbrains.com/help/phpstorm/using-psalm.html#installing-configuring-code-sniffer)

I'm trying to set up psalm but I'm not seeing any of the new settings for it.

There is no wrench icon in front of the psalm line in composer.json

And psalm and phpstan are not listed in the Quality tools settings.

Is there anything I'm missing?

I'm currently running IntelliJ IDEA 2020.3 Build #IU-203.5981.155 with PHP plugin 203.5981.175. It says there are no updates available.

PHP is running in docker and I have a Remote CLI Interpreter set up (other quality tools like PHP_CodeSniffer are working fine with it).

I installed the trial for PHPStorm and now psalm is detected correctly. So it looks like the issue is only with IntelliJ IDEA with the PHP plugin although according to the documentation it should work just as well.

I'll open a bug report for IntelliJ IDEA.

You're most likely missing Psalm support plugin, find it & install at File | Settings | Plugins.

It's written, though not clearly, in our docs: Make sure the PHP and Psalm plugins are enabled

You are right Dmitry Tronin I must have missed that because I was initially following the documentation for PHPStorm instead of the IntelliJ one. Turns out I din't have the Psalm plugin enabled yet.

Thanks a lot for the help!
