Loading Cmake project... is slow and takes up all cores

I am runnning CLion 2020.3.1. on Ubunutu 20.04 and am using it for a pretty large C++ project. Unfortunately every time the CMake project has to be re-loaded it takes around 15 mins. During that time it is using all the 8 cores of my i7-10510U so everything becomes extremely laggy. Any ideas why this could be?
