Unable to override particular shortcuts in IntelliJ

Answered

I am on Macbook Pro OS 10.15 and since the days I have been using Jetbrains product I always use cmd + . for forward navigation and cmd + , for backward navigation. I setup the same in my webstorm and it worked fine. But when I am trying to do the same in IntelliJ I am having following problesm :

  • With cmd+, I set the shortcut for backward and saved/applied. Now when I am pressing cmd+, it is opening preference window.
  • When I try to set cmd+. shortcut to forward navigation it isn't working. I right click on forward and click on Add Keyboard shortcut and then I press cmd+. and that shortcut setting tab closes without doing anything.

"Cmd + ," is the default shortcut for opening preferences on macOS. You can assign a different key combination to the preferences to solve the conflict:

Looks like it is a known problem. Please follow https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/JBR-2509, for updates.
