Is it specific to the file/file type being opened? Is the widget hidden permanently or after certain actions that you take (e.g. open terminal window (https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/IDEA-253484))? Can you describe the steps to reliably reproduce the issue?

Thanks for your reply.
I tested it with filetypes like js, jsx, ts, tsx, txt, json, yaml. It's always and permanently hidden for me.

The widget is hidden permanently. If I uncheck and check again, for example "File Encoding" under View -> Appearance -> Status Bar Widgets nothing changes in the Status Bar and the file encoding is not visible.

Does the issue persist if you disable non-bundled plugins and restart the IDE?

It works if I disable this plugin: https://plugins.jetbrains.com/plugin/14944-mdx
Thanks for your help.

Hmm... it works for me even with this plugin installed

Yes, you are right. The problem seems to be caused by a combination of the mdx and One Dark Theme plugin. If only one of these plugins is activated the widgets are correctly displayed. If both plugins are active the widgets are hidden, after a file is closed and opened again.
