How can I make IDEA to run faster in Ubuntu? I am running it in a i5 ThinkPad with 4 gigs of RAM.

Do you have some specific scenarios with the IDE slowness?
General recommendations to the IDE is to allocate more memory for the IDE if you work with big projects and use local drive to store IDE settings/caches and projects.
