Gatway vs. WSL2 mode or IntelliJ

Has there been a change in the way IntelliJ works with WSL mode on Windows. The recommendation before was to use IntelliJ gateway, but the article https://www.jetbrains.com/help/idea/how-to-use-wsl-development-environment-in-product.html#wsl-general Updated June 04 2026 makes no mention of using Gatway.
