Using virtual keyboard on KDE Plasma causes bad double tapping shift behavior

Recently I upgraded from Fedora 42 to Fedora 44. I believe KDE Plasma got upgraded during that and the “Virtual Keyboard” setting got changed from “None” to “Plasma Keyboard”.

When “Plasma Keyboard” is selected, double tapping shift to “search everywhere” is triggered far more often than it should. Since I use IdeaVim, a good test is J + Shift + J + Shift. Because I had a keypress in between tapping shift, the “double shift” should not register, but it does.

Additionally while using IdeaVim if I hold J, the Plasma Keyboard will pop up alternate character selection. (To be honest, I don't like this behavior in general, but it doesn't make sense for an alternate character to pop up in many situations within IntelliJ, such as when in NORMAL mode in IdeaVim).

The easy fix for this now is to switch my virtual keyboard from “Plasma Keyboard” to “None.” I'm perfectly happy without Plasma's newer features here, but wanted to report that IntelliJ doesn't play nicely with it. It took me a while to figure out what was causing this.
