IntelliJ warning about outdated maven upgrade

Answered

I'm using Apache Commons CLI for a project and have it included in my POM file. The issue is that there was a pre-1.0 build that's in the central repository with the version number 20040117.000000 released in 2005. Because that's technically a "bigger number" than the current 1.5.0 version, IntelliJ keeps telling me that there is an upgrade available. It's just a warning, and I can just ignore it and build anyway. But it's obnoxious, and obviously interferes with Maven picking up on actual updates to the package. Is there any way to make Maven and/or IntelliJ ignore that particular version?

There has been an issue with versions comparison: https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/IDEA-274542 It has been fixed in the 2021.3 version. The RC build is available from https://www.jetbrains.com/idea/nextversion/

If you'd like you can also disable the Settings (Preferences on macOS) | Editor | Inspections | Package Search | Check for new dependency versions (Maven) inspection.

Thanks, Andrey! I'll go ahead and install the RC build. I can't see all of the comments on the issue report, but if you get the chance let all of the other developers know that at least someone out there appreciates all of their hard work!
