Ram Consumption of Intellij Idea

So, yeah I am using IntelliJ IDEA for java practice but the issue is that it used way much more ram than needed. For instance in my 8gb ram it uses 2.5+ gb of ram alone. I am not using any plugins or themes.
So, can you please suggest how to decrease ram consumption.
Any help would be appreciated.

What OS do you use? Where do you observe the RAM usage?
I use Mac OS. MacBook Air M1(8gb) variant.
I generally observe usage in Activity Monitor.
When IntelliJ IDEA is just idle for about 5 mins it generally occupies more than 2.2gb of ram.
Activity monitor may not show the actual RAM usage and there is no documentation anywhere how this usage is calculated.

That's nothing - only yesterday I saw IntelliJ use about about 5GB of RAM with one Kotlin + Rust project open. Directly after a clean startup and clicking a few tabs, bam, 3500MiB GB + gradle daemon
