Issue with not being able to open some repos in IDE

Hey,

I'm having issues with not being able to open some directories on my Windows machine. 

A lot of directories work just fine and open up as expected in the IDE but many times a new IntelliJ window is opened but it displays nothing. When hovering over the IntelliJ symbol in the taskbar I get a white screen, when selecting it nothing displays (see attached image). It's not always the same directories having issues.

I'm running on a Windows 10 machine,

IntelliJ Ultimate 2021.3.2

Any ideas why this is happening? Extremely frustrating while trying to work efficiently.
