get rid of dots before line in debugging

Just installed 2021.3.3 and when debugging, before the currently active line, I'm getting a series of dots to the left of the line that are mid-height to the letters.  This wasn't present before the update to 2021.3.3.

Ideas how to get ride of them?  They just clog up things visually.
