Processing Single Quotes Follow

Hi,  I am new to PHP Storm and evualating the prospect of upgrading an existing webbase application/project that is 7 years old to VS/C#.

One of the key challenges i am trying to trouble shoot is how to process a ' or single quote that is in a text field through to the database.

We are PHP  with mysql backend if that helps.
