Remote Development on server that already has IntelliJ set up

I have a linux system which has IntelliJ set up with multiple plugins such as Maven and Checkstyle. When I try to use remote development on the project on that system from my laptop, I am unable to use these plugins, as well as see code suggestions and run/debug code. Is there a way to configure remote development to use the version of IntelliJ which is already installed?
