PyCharm stuck at startup

PyCharm is stuck at startup. CPU usage is extremely high. PyCharm is totally unresponsive.
I am on macOS with the latest PyCharm. It happened to multiple times in the past.

Rebooting PyCharm does not help. Invalidating caches does not help. Reparing IDE does not help. It's incredibly frustrating.

I tried to uninstall pycharm using the toolbox, but even this does not work!!

I can't collect log or data because it IDE is unusable.

The only way I could fix this was by deleting the .idea folder and recreating the project from scratch. I can send you the content of the folder .idea if you give me an address.

In general I always have issues with pycharm getting stuck or using high CPU when using remote interpreters.

PyCharm was not correctly loading the files from disk, as I explained in another issue I opened here.

I invalided the IDE cache and restarted. Now I have the same problem! PyCharm is stuck at startup! I lost almost 2 hours of work in 2 days.

Votre problème vient peut-être du fait que votre ordinateur bloque l'installation, sur mon pc il m'est arrivé du blocage mais j'ai eu une notification qui me laissait le message.

Foglio Matteo Hi,

Seems like a serious bug. Could you please submit an issue to our tracker https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issues/py and attach:

  • idea.log file from the logs directory
  • If the issue is project-specific, a sample of the project if possible. I'm not asking to provide your actual project, just a reproducible sample, but if it's not easy/possible to create a sample, please provide just your `.idea` directory.
  • Several thread dumps collected according to https://intellij-support.jetbrains.com/hc/en-us/articles/206544899 using the `jstack` utility while IDE is being unresponsive
