Thx Alexander. Yes I have stopped writing scala "scripts" due to several issues in IJ with them (not just this one). IJ -even with its various bugs wrt to scala - is still better than eclipse-bas...

This option is used by apache spark . Given the HUGE importance of Spark it would make sense to be able to build it in Intellij. I do not know more about -P than this. So .. how do we proceed?

Here is another recompile attempt. I made a tiny change to one scala class and it gets stuck with message : "Phase total passed in 2000ms"

As an experiment I unchecked "Compile Scala classes first" in Settings | Compiler | Scala. That made no difference.
