Well it took me all of 1 minute to see the column mode in the edit menu.Just hit Alt-Shift-Insert and you've got it!

I fixed the issue by deleting the IJ cache. But seems like a bug to me.

this does work in Safari. However the search in Firefox doesn't work FYI (I was using Firefox when I first tried this)
