I couldn't get Android Studio pick up JDK 1.8 either using just the idea.properties files. I ended up using the STUDIO_JDK: http://stackoverflow.com/a/32952022/3055345 . Maybe there's an equivalent...

For reference: I had to change the JVMVersion value in the idea.properties file for it to be recognized by the IDE (Android Studio 1.3). Changing it in the Info.plist file doesn't have any influenc...
